Dear Friends and Supporters,
Welcome to our new multi-lingual website! Launched in June 2009, the site is now available in English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Armenian, and Russian. I encourage you to check out the new features such as on-line child care referrals, provider training calendars, and key resources for parents and providers and send us your feedback.
Also new this quarter, I am pleased to announce that First-5 LA awarded Pathways with a capacity grant to launch our new "Parents as Partners" program. The grant is part of a countywide initiative to create positive, long-term change for young children, and will help us improve and expand our infrastructure for parenting education.
In other good news, our new Eagle Rock Child Development Center is thriving. Opened in May 2007, the center has already reached full capacity and children with special needs make up ten percent of the enrollees. A recently awarded $27K facility renovation grant will allow the center to invest in building improvements such as upgraded air conditioning and flooring, as well as training technology that will enhance staff development and help us share our model concepts with other child care providers and parents.
As we enter our 31st year of service, we are not immune to the effects of the current economic downturn, but we remain optimistic about the future and are committed to continuing to offer high quality services to the children, families and child care providers we serve. Whether you are a provider, a parent or a supporter of our work, we are glad to have you as part of our Pathways community, and we look forward to moving ahead together.
