A variety of intervention services are provided to children with special needs, ages birth to five, in their natural environment through Pathways' Home Based Program. These services are referred and funded by Regional Centers. Pathways works with six different Regional Centers in Los Angeles County and Ventura County providing such services as assessments, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and early intervention as well as advocacy and resources for parents.
Children in our Home Based Program are authorized for specific services through a process of eligibility with the Regional Center in their area. The Regional Center then authorizes Pathways to provide the service in the child's home. Obviously, the needs of the child dictate the frequency and type of services authorized. For example, if a child has delays in speech, usually two sessions per week with a Speech Therapist, one hour each session, is authorized. A child may have several types of intervention services and/or therapies authorized by Regional Center. In order to receive services, however, it is the parent who must request the service through Regional Center. In this program, the parent is a key member of the team and is closely involved with the decisions made for their child and collaborates with the specialists and therapists throughout the authorized period of services, which can run from a few weeks to several years.
The services provided through this program are free to the family. For additional information, please contact the Pathways Infant Program Coordinator at (213) 427-2712 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
